Routine eye exam: general evaluation, and determine refractive errors for corrective lenses
Comprehensive eye exam: more extensive, complete evaluation of both vision and eye health
may include dilation, retinal image, external photo, and/or visual field
strongly recommended if:
this is your first eye exam or haven't had one in the last 2 years
have a chronic condition or family history of eye diseases
taking prescription/nonprescription drugs with ocular side effects
had eye surgery or previous eye injury
Contact Lens Exam:
Include glasses rx + contact lens rx, contact lens trials and starter kit
Note that some vision insurance plans do not cover contact lens fit
Medical eye exam:
diagnosis and treatment of medical complaints such as eye pain, double vision, floaters, sudden blurriness, loss of peripheral vision, irritation, dry eyes etc.
further evaluation of medical eye conditions that result from routine eye exam
diagnose and treat eye infections, cornea abrasion or ulcer
foreign bodies removal
monitor eye complications from conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract just to name a few
Can I use both Vision and Medical Insurance?
Unfortunately, both your vision benefits and medical insurance cannot be used on the same day. If you are having a medical complaint with your eyes, we will use your medical insurance whereas if you just need your glasses updated, we will use your vision benefits.
If you have both insurance plans, our office will coordinate the benefits to minimize your out-of-pocket costs. Our goal is to bill appropriately based on the reason for your visit. You would be responsible for copays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
On some occasions, a routine eye exam must be converted to a medical visit if an incidental or urgent eye problem is discovered that would prevent us from obtaining a reliable refraction for glasses or performing a contact lens fit.
What if I don't have insurance?
Reassure that our fees are designed to be affordable without compromising quality. We prioritize patient care above all else.
